TELEMEDECINE® - Telesynergy® Video Conference Workstation
By integrating powerful telecommunications technology into health care research and delivery, Telemedicine enables clinical researchers at greatly separated geographic sites to simultaneously communicate and view and manipulate data necessary for collaborations, including patient diagnosis and care, such as x-ray films and pathology samples.
Researchers of the National Cancer Institute and the Center for Information Technology of the U.S. National Institutes of Health developed TELESYNERGY®.
The TELESYNERGY® system is a multi-image diagnostic quality medical consultation and research workstation that is an important tool for education and training.
The TELESYNERGY® System

- enables clinical researchers to communicate remotely, and simultaneously view and manipulate data necessary for collaborations in cancer research, and patient diagnosis and care
- allows for face-to-face consultation among multiple participating locations
- transmits information and images from several different sources including a microscope, patient examination camera, document camera, color video printer, DVD player/recorder, and PC
- conducts live sessions, or transmits recorded sessions of case presentations, seminars, rounds and lectures, and distance education of all kinds.
A TELESYNERGY® Global Medical Consultation Work Station is available at the National Cancer Institute Liaison Office in Brussels, Belgium. It is available to outside collaborators for a very low cost.
